Engineering failures are common place in the field. A lot of problems are solved by several field engineers. However, issues related to high temperature equipment and issues related to dynamic excitation are very elusive for solution by field engineers. This is because these problems need extensive analytical engineering knowledge. This is the reason we need people with specific experience on solving problems using analytical techniques. They should also have a great understanding of the science behind thermal growth, true stress behavior, material science, etc. Similarly, any dynamic excitation problem needs even more understanding of the science of vibration and dynamic excitation.
